Once the barge is tested safe by a licensed industrial hygienist the helper will then perform the duties required to strip and clean the barge in order to prepare it for its next cargo per owners’ specifications. The PIC must adhere to Kirby’s training, safety, drug and security requirements in order to insure safe and efficient working conditions for barge cleaning. ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following.
