Tankerman Trainee Job Description
|
Tankerman trainees assist others on the vessel in preparing barges for the loading and discharging of cargo. Trainees build tows by handling lines and cables to tie and untie barges and boats. Trainees perform scheduled vessel maintenance care for tools and equipment, and perform general housekeeping duties as assigned by their supervisor. They adhere to company safety policy and procedures, environmental rules and governmental regulation. Trainees work under the supervision of the Captain or the trainee's immediate supervisor. Tankerman Trainees are put on the 'fast-track' to becoming licensed by the US Coast Guard to be tankermen.
