Kirby's commitment to training is paramount. We are the industry leader! Kirby looks at training not as an expense, but as an investment in our employees. This investment pays through our safety record, our customer's satisfaction in the quality of our services, as well as our employee's job satisfaction.

Kirby has an in-house training complex and a complete set of US Coast Guard approved classes. The training facility includes a dorm, galley (dining hall) and multiple classrooms. When you are training, you will be housed at one of our houses or dormitories for the duration of your class at no cost.

You will be trained to be the best in your field.

Kirby uses simulators as a part of our training. Simulators provide real life job experience in low risk situations, including the following:

• Training Deck
• Firefighting field
• Training tug
• In-plant simulation field
• Barge simulator (transfers water as cargo)
• Wheelhouse simulator (Radar, Mini-bridge pictured to the right)

We have our own Transas Simulator at our Training Center. We also currently use simulators located at the Seamen's Church Organization.
