Kirby WIN Program

Kirby WIN is a new program for our vessel crews in 2008. The acronym stands for What’s Important Now. We designed this program to be a better way to recognize our hard working employees for a job well done. It is a point-based recognition system that will supplement the current Special Recognition Program. It will recognize the day-to-day activities that are not necessarily recognized through the Special Recognition Program but should be recognized nonetheless; actions such as behavior-based safety improvement or continuously cleaning the deck without being instructed.

Kirby/KLM WINS – What’s Important Now – began in mid-June. Captains will be managing the program. This is a point-based program, meaning Captains will award their crew members for a job well done and other behaviors such as safety, quality of work, and cost-savings OFIs. Like the Special Recognition program, points are awarded on a discretionary, individual basis by the Captains. There are no set criteria, though we do have suggestions if you need ideas.
