What To Expect

The time to utilize your 3rd Mate credential could never be better. The Kirby Inland Marine MOTV program offers advancement opportunities for graduates of maritime academies in a fast growing industry along the Gulf Coast and Mississippi River. Quite frankly, the growth in our industry is out-pacing our ability to fill our wheelhouse. Over the next year, Kirby Inland Marine will build 8 boats for release meaning we need 24 licensed pilots to sail on these vessels.

Kirby has the best United States Coast Guard Approved Training Center in North America. Our school is located in Houston, TX. We have a talented group of trainers who have worked aboard our vessels and know the life of a tow boater. We have USCG-approved designated examiners to help you through the process of endorsing your license with Inland Waters and Western River endorsements. We have hired several graduates in the last few years and many of these individuals are now piloting a towboat for Kirby. We could not be any more proud of these individuals and their accomplishments.
