Wheelmen: 

Our goal is to welcome you to our company and treat you like family. Once you are here we hope you take advantage of our 401k program and start planning your retrement. We have a pension plan that is company sponsored and you do not have to contribute a dollar. It is valued at over 10% of your annual income. Kirby is a company you can retire with. We are a growing company and financially sound. We plan to be in the Marine business into the future. 

 

A Wheelman at Kirby has a demanding but fulfulling job.We expect a wheelman to be a leader. We depend on you to oversee the safely of our crews. "Safety is our franchise to operate" and is one of our core values at Kirby. We are proud of our saftey record and every year our goal is to reduce injuries through behavior based safety initiatives. You will attend Leadership training every three years. We combine this training with a radar course and will assist you with the renewal of you license every fifth year.

What to expect:

Tankermen

We value our tankerman highly at Kirby. We transfer an emormus amount of cargo cargo per year with an excellent spill rate. Without our highly trained tankermen we could not operate successfully. They are truly the backbone of our company.

 

The sky is the limit for our tankermen. All our tankermen become eligible to train as a steersman after 12 months service with Kirby. We have the best training school in the United States. Have you thought about being a Pilot of one of our tugboats? We have trained over 100 Pilots in the last 6 years and the opportunity of a lifetime awaits you.  You can earn $80-$100K per year as a pilot!
