Warrant Officer Job Benefits
Kirby Inland Marine provides a list of benefits to all of our employees. Once hired, you will receive a complete benefits package but here is a few things we offer to our vessel employees:
Work Schedule
All Kirby vessels work a 2-for-1 schedule – typically 14/7, 20/10, or 30/15. Compared to working a typical offshore schedule of 60-120 days onboard at any one time, Kirby’s schedule gives you more frequent off time so you are not gone so long. Kirby also offers opportunities to ride over on your days off for a premium pay in addition to your daily wage.Travel Reimbursement
Kirby will reimburse you a certain amount with a maximum of 600 miles each way between your home and your hub.
Relocation Reimbursement
Kirby will reimburse you $1,000 for relocating within the 600 mile range of any of our four hubs (New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Houston, Corpus Christi). We will even assist you with locating housing in Houston should you choose to relocate to Texas.
Paid Training
The Kirby Training Center, located just outside of Houston, TX, provides various U.S.C.G-approved courses for all Kirby employees free of charge. Furthermore, you’ll be paid your current daily wage while training! Whether you need your Tankerman PIC, Advanced Wheelhouse Management Leadership Training, or just have to renew your license or radar, it can all be done through the Kirby Training Center.
401(k) Retirement Plan
Deferring part of your income from taxes is a great way to reduce your tax liability as well as save for retirement. After one year of service with Kirby, you will have the option of contributing as much as 17% of your income into a 401(k). Kirby will match up to 3% of your investment.
Pension
Kirby provides a defined benefit pension plan at retirement. This provides retirement savings in addition to the 401(k) plan.
Health Insurance and Disability Coverage
Optional health care plans are provided to all Kirby employees for a small monthly fee. Some features include small co-pays for doctor visits, dental work including teeth cleaning, and prescription coverage. This is an excellent plan when considering the rising costs of doctor bills and prescriptions.
