Warrant Officer Career Opportunities

Career Opportunities

Kirby Inland Marine recognizes the value of our people and both encourages and assists shoreside and vessel employees in pursuing their career goals. Kirby’s goal is to “grow its own people.” Kirby maintains a comprehensive, U.S.C.G.-approved training program which addresses the training needs of employees from entry level deckhand through Master. As a Steersmen in training, you will participate in the best training and development program in the industry. You can become a Pilot, Relief Captain, and a Captain of a towing vessel in a matter of a few years.

The Company

Kirby Corporation can be traced back to 1921 when it was an oil and gas exploration company. Kirby entered the transportation business in 1969 with the purchase of Dixie Carriers (a company that was started in 1948). Kirby was a conglomerate, operating many different types of business. In the late 80’s, Kirby decided to focus its energies on marine transportation.

The Industry

The inland towing industry is extremely healthy. Demand for equipment and personnel to pilot this equipment is very high. There are no better opportunities for career or financial growth in the maritime field.
